Chinese Ambassador meets Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to discuss CPEC and China-Pakistan all-weather partnership.
Ambassador Jiang Zaidong of the People’s Republic of China met with the Prime Minister on Tuesday morning.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister extended warm greetings and best wishes to President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang. He also conveyed his hopes for the successful organization of the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit and acknowledged ongoing discussions regarding his planned visit to China to attend the event.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed the historic and resilient “All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership” between Pakistan and China. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to working closely with China for the effective execution of CPEC initiatives. Key projects such as the ML-I railway upgrade, KKH realignment, Gwadar Port operations, and collaborations in agriculture, industry, and IT sectors were specifically highlighted.
He expressed deep gratitude for China’s sustained financial and economic support, which has played a crucial role in stabilizing Pakistan’s economy and improving its macroeconomic indicators, essential elements of the government’s development agenda.
The two also discussed regional security concerns, particularly the evolving situation between Iran and Israel. The Chinese ambassador praised Pakistan’s constructive and balanced diplomatic efforts at international forums, including the UN Security Council, in advocating peaceful solutions through dialogue.
Ambassador Jiang Zaidong also updated the Prime Minister on various areas of bilateral cooperation and confirmed that preparations for the Prime Minister’s visit to China in late August 2025 were already underway to ensure its success.
