Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang stated on Friday that China is prepared to collaborate closely with Russia to further strengthen their political mutual trust and deepen their shared interests.
Ding, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made these remarks during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
He began by conveying warm greetings and best wishes from Chinese President Xi Jinping to President Putin.
Ding recalled that President Xi had recently visited Russia at Putin’s invitation to take part in the 80th anniversary of the Soviet victory in the Great Patriotic War. During the visit, Xi and Putin held comprehensive strategic discussions and outlined a new vision for advancing China-Russia relations.
Ding emphasized that the close leadership and strategic direction provided by Xi and Putin serve as the foundation for deepening cooperation between the two countries. Their guidance ensures long-term friendship and enables both nations to navigate global uncertainties together.
He further noted that China is willing to broaden trade and investment with Russia, enhance cooperation in the energy sector, push forward joint projects, and support each other’s national development and rejuvenation.
In light of the evolving global landscape, Ding stressed that China and Russia should maintain strategic coordination, uphold international fairness, defend the multilateral trading system centered on the WTO, ensure supply chain stability, and boost cooperation through platforms like the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS. These efforts, he said, will help promote a more equitable multipolar world and inclusive economic globalization.
President Putin, in response, asked Ding to relay his sincere greetings to President Xi and welcomed his participation in the 28th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
Putin remarked that despite external pressures and challenges, Russia-China relations have advanced comprehensively and reached new historic heights.
He reaffirmed Russia’s commitment to strengthening practical cooperation with China and expressed a desire to jointly build a brighter future for both countries and the broader international community.
Putin also shared his anticipation for his upcoming visit to China to attend the SCO summit in Tianjin and to participate in events commemorating the 80th anniversary of victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
