UNSC condemns Khuzdar terror attack and states that terrorism remains a grave threat to global peace.
The UN Security Council members have unequivocally condemned the brutal and cowardly terrorist attack targeting a school bus in Khuzdar.
In a press release, the Security Council stated that this appalling act of terrorism claimed the lives of at least six Pakistanis, including four schoolchildren. It further noted that 53 others were injured in the assault, with 39 of them being children.
Council members extended heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families, the Government of Pakistan, and its people, while also wishing a swift and complete recovery for those injured.
They reiterated that terrorism, in all its forms and manifestations, poses a grave threat to global peace and security.
The Security Council stressed the importance of bringing to justice those responsible for planning, financing, or supporting such despicable acts. It called on all states to actively cooperate with Pakistan in line with international legal obligations and relevant Security Council resolutions.
The Council reiterated that terrorism is criminal and indefensible, regardless of justification, timing, location, or perpetrators. It emphasized the necessity for all countries to use every lawful means, aligned with the UN Charter and international human rights, refugee, and humanitarian laws, to combat the threat terrorism poses to global stability.
