On May 19, during a routine press conference, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning responded to a Bloomberg reporter’s query about Indian military claims that China had supplied Pakistan with air defense assistance. Mao advised seeking further details from relevant Chinese authorities.
Mao emphasized that both India and Pakistan are significant neighbors for China. She stated that China highly values its relations with both nations and is dedicated to maintaining friendly, secure, and cooperative ties with its neighbors. China’s foreign policy is rooted in principles of goodwill, sincerity, mutual benefit, openness, and the vision of a shared future.
Addressing ongoing India-Pakistan tensions, Mao affirmed that China has consistently adopted an impartial and balanced stance, urging both sides to remain composed and avoid escalating the situation. She welcomed the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan and expressed China’s readiness to continue contributing constructively to lasting peace and regional stability.
