United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres held a telephone conversation with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to deliberate on the ongoing security concerns in South Asia.
During the call, Guterres briefed the Prime Minister on his diplomatic efforts aimed at maintaining peace and stability in the region and reaffirmed his intention to remain engaged with all relevant parties.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif appreciated the Secretary-General’s active engagement and welcomed his appeal for reducing regional tensions.
Reiterating Pakistan’s stance, the Prime Minister once again proposed an impartial, transparent, and trustworthy investigation into recent developments, while expressing concern over India’s failure to present any evidence and its continued inflammatory rhetoric.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s firm commitment to safeguarding its sovereignty and territorial integrity in the face of external threats.
The Prime Minister voiced deep concern over India’s attempts to influence global financial institutions against Pakistan to damage its economic standing.
This marked the second phone conversation between the Prime Minister and the UN Secretary-General within one week, reflecting the seriousness of the regional situation.
