BRICS urges to defend rights of developing nations and Wang Yi calls for all members to lead in unity and cooperation.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi urged BRICS nations to enhance their unity and collaboration, positioning themselves as the most dependable advocates for the legitimate rights and interests of developing nations.
He pointed out that in today’s evolving global environment, a growing number of countries are turning to BRICS for leadership and are expressing a strong interest in joining the bloc.
Wang warned that using global trade as a weapon and pursuing self-serving political strategies only deepens mistrust among nations and endangers international stability. He emphasized that compromise achieves little, and real hope lies in unity.
He urged BRICS members to take the lead in promoting unity and cooperation, champion multilateralism, and defend the development rights of all nations. Wang stressed the need to firmly push back against dominant powers that act unilaterally and restrict development space for others.
Other participants in the meeting echoed these sentiments, agreeing that BRICS should build consensus to oppose coercion, external interference, and trade-related abuses. They underscored the importance of multilateralism, protecting the Global South’s interests, and advancing a more balanced, peaceful, and just multipolar world order.
