China, Iran hold in-depth talks on progress of Iranian Nuclear Issue as Iran’s Foreign Minister is on an official visit to China.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held discussions with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi in Beijing on Wednesday, focusing on the most recent developments concerning Iran’s nuclear program.
Wang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, emphasized that the enduring China-Iran friendship has remained strong despite global challenges. He reaffirmed that both countries regard their bilateral relationship as a long-term strategic choice.
In recent years, political trust between the two nations has grown, bolstered by mutual support and practical cooperation. Wang also noted their joint resistance against unilateral pressure and bullying on the global stage.
Wang criticized the United States for its excessive use of tariffs, arguing that such actions have alienated it from the global community. He called for a united international effort to uphold multilateralism and the foundational principles of global diplomacy.
China, Wang said, is committed to implementing agreements made by both nations’ leaders, enhancing bilateral cooperation, and deepening collaboration in global and regional matters. He expressed China’s readiness to work with Iran in boosting the effectiveness of multilateral platforms like the SCO and BRICS.
Araghchi reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to strengthening ties with China, reiterated support for the One-China policy, and expressed a shared interest in resisting unilateralism and defending multilateral principles.
Wang reiterated China’s firm stance on resolving the Iranian nuclear issue through political and diplomatic channels and rejected the use of force and illegal sanctions.
He acknowledged Iran’s stance against nuclear weapons development, supported its right to peaceful nuclear energy, and encouraged diplomatic engagement with all involved parties, including the U.S., to preserve regional peace and the global non-proliferation framework.
Araghchi commended China’s constructive role in promoting a diplomatic resolution to the nuclear issue and committed to maintaining close coordination with Beijing.
