Turkey has shown strong interest in Pakistan’s mineral sector, particularly in the discovery of rare minerals. This interest was conveyed by Turkey’s Minister for Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, during a meeting with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Tuesday, where he led a nine-member delegation.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the numerous opportunities to expand economic relations between Turkey and Pakistan. He emphasized that the cooperation agreement between the two countries on offshore oil and gas exploration will further strengthen their economic ties.
The two sides agreed to enhance cooperation in the energy sector, focusing on renewable energy. The Turkish delegation commended Pakistan’s ongoing energy sector reforms, noting that these changes will make the sector more attractive to investment.
Minister Bayraktar stated that Turkey is willing to share its successful experiences with Pakistan in power sector reforms and privatization. He also mentioned that the Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum revealed the vast potential of Pakistan’s mineral sector.
