Dasu Hydropower Project honors model employees where 22 different Chinese and Pakistani employees were distributed awards.
The Dasu Hydropower Project, a key venture under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), marked a significant achievement with the 2024 Model Employees Award Ceremony held on April 7. A total of 22 outstanding Chinese and Pakistani team members were honored for their dedication, expertise, and contributions to advancing bilateral cooperation. Their roles were crucial in overcoming complex logistical, technical, and environmental challenges. The awards recognized excellence in various areas such as safety, innovation, and teamwork, with Pakistani engineers commended for their local knowledge and Chinese experts praised for sharing advanced hydropower technology.
Project leaders at the event highlighted the “Spirit of Dasu,” which embodies resilience, mutual growth, and a shared pursuit of sustainable progress. The Chinese project manager emphasized the human connection behind the initiative, stating that beyond energy output, the project is about building lasting relationships. The awards illustrated CPEC’s role as a “Bridge of Friendship,” strengthened through staff exchanges and joint training that deepen ties between the two countries. The ceremony concluded with a joint commitment to “Light Up Pakistan, Together,” symbolizing the unity driving CPEC forward.
Planned in two phases, each capable of producing 2,160 megawatts, the Dasu Hydropower Project has generated over 10,000 local employment opportunities while equipping Pakistani workers with skills in renewable energy. The initiative demonstrates how infrastructure growth paired with employee recognition can fortify international partnerships. By honoring these 22 individuals, China and Pakistan have reaffirmed their dedication to mutual growth and a cleaner, more sustainable future.
