Chinese, Russian FMs meet to advance bilateral relations as they met in Moscow, Russia.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi reaffirmed China’s commitment to working alongside Russia to advance bilateral ties and cooperation across multiple sectors during his meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Moscow on Tuesday.

Wang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, is on an official three-day visit to Russia from Monday to Wednesday.

Highlighting the 80th anniversary of significant historical events – including the victories in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the Soviet Union’s Great Patriotic War, as well as the founding of the United Nations—Wang emphasized that both Chinese and Russian people made tremendous sacrifices in defeating Japanese militarism and German fascism to uphold justice and secure global peace.

China, he stated, is ready to collaborate with Russia in fulfilling their special responsibilities as permanent members of the UN Security Council. He stressed the importance of resisting external interference, safeguarding the post-World War II order, and promoting global multipolarity and fairness in international relations, contributing to worldwide peace and development.

Wang expressed optimism that the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership would gain new momentum and reach greater heights in the coming years.

Lavrov, in response, praised the unprecedented strength of Russia-China relations. He noted the deep-rooted tradition of friendship, shared border, and extensive common interests between the two nations. He reiterated Russia’s willingness to strengthen cooperation with China to achieve new milestones in their partnership.

Marking the 80th anniversary of the World Anti-Fascist War and the establishment of the United Nations, Lavrov stressed that Russia and China must work together to bring stability to today’s complex global landscape.

Lavrov also commended China’s global initiatives, voiced full support for China’s stance on Taiwan, and affirmed Russia’s commitment to upholding the principles of the UN Charter. He emphasized the shared determination to preserve a fair and just international order while preventing the resurgence of Nazism and militarism.
