China, India pledge stronger ties on 75th anniversary as Presidents of both countries exchanged congratulatory messages.
On Tuesday, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Indian President Droupadi Murmu exchanged congratulatory messages to mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and India.
Xi emphasized that both nations, as ancient civilizations, major developing economies, and key members of the “Global South,” are at pivotal stages of modernization. He noted that fostering a cooperative partnership and achieving the “Dragon-Elephant Tango” serves the fundamental interests of both countries and their people.
He urged both sides to approach their bilateral relations with a strategic and long-term vision, advocating for peaceful coexistence, mutual trust, and shared development. Xi also highlighted the importance of China and India working together to promote a multipolar world and greater democracy in global affairs.
Xi expressed his willingness to collaborate with Murmu to use this diplomatic milestone as a chance to enhance strategic trust, strengthen cooperation across various fields, and improve communication on major international issues. He also stressed the need to maintain peace along the China-India border and ensure the steady growth of bilateral ties for global stability and prosperity.
Murmu, in her message, acknowledged that India and China, as neighboring nations housing a third of the global population, have a significant role in world affairs. She emphasized that a stable, friendly, and predictable relationship between the two nations would not only benefit both countries but also contribute positively to the world. She proposed using the 75th-anniversary celebrations as a platform to strengthen and stabilize India-China relations further.
