China remains committed to working with all nations to uphold genuine multilateralism, reinforce the central role of the United Nations, and promote a global governance model based on broad consultation, joint contributions, and shared benefits, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated on Monday.
Wang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made these remarks in a written message for the international symposium titled “Strengthen the Role of the United Nations and Promote Multilateralism,” organized by China’s Foreign Ministry in Beijing.
He highlighted that the successful convening of last year’s UN Summit of the Future demonstrated the collective aspiration of the global community to support multilateralism, enhance the UN’s role, and improve global governance mechanisms.
Wang noted that 2024 marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in the World Anti-Fascist War and the founding of the United Nations. In this context, the international community expects nations to work together in solidarity to uphold justice, maintain global peace and stability, and drive sustainable development and prosperity.
As a founding member of the UN and a permanent member of the UN Security Council, China pledges to continue collaborating with all parties to promote true multilateralism, ensure the UN remains central to global affairs, and advocate for a fairer global governance system built on inclusivity and cooperation, Wang stated.
“Together, we will bring stability to an evolving and uncertain world, inject positive energy into building a more just and balanced global order, and advance the vision of a community with a shared future for humanity,” he added.
The symposium was attended by over 100 participants, including representatives from nearly 50 countries, international and regional organizations in China, UN officials, experts, and scholars from various sectors.
