In a move toward sustainable urban development, Punjab is set to introduce 27 Chinese-made pure electric buses to enhance green transportation and ease pressure on its overburdened transit networks. These buses, produced by Chinese manufacturer YUTONG, are specifically designed to suit Pakistan’s climate and urban infrastructure. They feature a nitrogen protection system to enhance battery safety and a dual middle-door layout with partitioned seating to improve passenger flow during rush hours.
YUTONG has been active in Pakistan since 2014, supplying buses for public transport, group travel, and airport shuttles. Additionally, the company has established a Knock-Down (KD) factory in Karachi, contributing to job creation and strengthening the local manufacturing sector.
