Chinese FM Wang Yi reiterates Gaza being Palestinian territory and stated that altering the status will further fuel instability in the region.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi reaffirmed on Friday that Gaza rightfully belongs to the Palestinian people and is an inseparable part of Palestinian territory. He made these remarks during a press conference on the sidelines of the third session of the 14th National People’s Congress.
Wang emphasized that altering Gaza’s status through force will not lead to peace but rather fuel further instability. He stressed that the will of the people must be respected and justice must not be compromised. He further stated that lasting peace in the Middle East is essential for global stability, with the Palestinian issue remaining central to the region’s conflict.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian reiterated China’s support for Egypt and other Arab nations in their efforts to implement a sustained ceasefire in Gaza, deliver humanitarian aid, and restore regional security.
Regarding Gaza’s post-war governance, Lin emphasized the importance of adhering to the principle of “the Palestinians governing Palestine” in accordance with the two-state solution. The ultimate goal, he stated, is peaceful coexistence between Palestine and Israel, ensuring long-term stability in the Middle East.
Wang concluded by reaffirming China’s commitment to justice, peace, and development in the region, pledging continued efforts to support the rights and aspirations of the people of the Middle East.
