The Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway (Whoosh), a key project under the China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), has transported 8.01 million passengers since its commercial launch on October 17, 2023, as reported by PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC).
According to KCIC, the railway currently maintains an average occupancy rate of 60.73 percent, with a peak single-day passenger count reaching 24,400.
To meet growing demand, KCIC has increased the number of daily trips to 62 as of February 1, allowing for more frequent and flexible travel options. With trains departing every 30 minutes, Whoosh continues to provide a fast and efficient mode of transportation for commuters.
In response to passenger needs, KCIC has introduced the Frequent Whoosher Card, a subscription pass aimed at offering greater affordability and convenience for regular travelers.
KCIC has also launched new services to enhance the passenger experience. A shuttle bus now connects Halim Station with Pantai Indah Kapuk 2 (PIK2), a popular coastal destination in Jakarta, making it easier for Bandung travelers to access the city’s beaches, dining, and entertainment options.
Additionally, the first official Whoosh merchandise store has opened at Halim Station, offering passengers a selection of branded souvenirs, including clothing, accessories, and collectibles.
“We aim to make travel on Whoosh a more personalized and memorable experience. The launch of official merchandise allows passengers to take home unique keepsakes,” said KCIC Corporate Secretary Eva Chairunisa, emphasizing the company’s dedication to enhancing connectivity and convenience for travelers.
