Chinese Saudi FMs meet to strengthen strategic partnership on the sidelines of G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud on the sidelines of the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Johannesburg to discuss China-Saudi Arabia relations.
Wang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, highlighted that in the 35 years since establishing diplomatic ties, China-Saudi relations have advanced significantly, becoming one of China’s most prominent partnerships in the Middle East.
He emphasized that China values the trust and friendship built between the two nations’ top leaders and considers its ties with Saudi Arabia a crucial component of its Middle East policy.
China aims to enhance exchanges across various sectors, including economy, trade, investment, new energy, digital economy, telecommunications, and high-end manufacturing, to elevate China-Saudi relations further.
Wang also acknowledged Saudi Arabia’s efforts in mediating regional conflicts, appreciating its constructive role in promoting peace and stability. He reiterated China’s commitment to standing with Arab nations on the Palestinian issue, advocating for justice and long-term peace.
Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan reaffirmed the strategic importance of China-Saudi ties, emphasizing that Saudi Arabia prioritizes its partnership with China. He expressed optimism about strengthening high-level exchanges and cooperation, particularly in light of the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
Faisal noted that both nations share a commitment to peace and stability, favoring dialogue as a means to resolve conflicts.
He recognized China’s global influence and expressed Saudi Arabia’s desire to work closely with China in finding diplomatic solutions to regional crises.
Faisal condemned the forced displacement of Palestinians in Gaza and commended China’s principled stance on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. He expressed confidence in China’s continued support for Middle East peace efforts.
Both sides also discussed China’s engagement with Arab and Gulf nations, agreeing to strengthen communication and cooperation for more tangible results in China-Arab and China-Gulf relations.
