China has lodged a formal protest with Australia regarding the deliberate incursion of an Australian military aircraft into its airspace, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated on Thursday.
Responding to inquiries about the incident, Guo explained that the intrusion occurred over China’s Xisha Islands, violating the country’s sovereignty and posing a threat to national security.
He emphasized that China’s actions to expel the aircraft were legitimate, in accordance with the law, professionally conducted, and exercised with restraint.
Guo further stated that China has formally communicated its strong opposition to Australia, urging it to immediately halt such violations and provocations that disrupt peace and stability in the South China Sea.
