The China-aided Pak-China Friendship Hospital organized its first-ever blood donation camp on January 22 to address the blood demand in Gwadar and the surrounding region through blood transfusion services.
The camp, inaugurated by the Gwadar Development Authority (GDA), offered free blood grouping and screening facilities for all donors. The collected blood will be used to support emergency patients and individuals suffering from conditions like thalassemia and cancer.
On the occasion, GDA Chairman Shafkat Anwar Shahwani activated the Cryofuge Machine.
Dr. Affan, Head of the Pak-China Friendship Hospital, briefed the GDA about the camp’s objectives, which include providing blood and blood products without discrimination, reducing reliance on replacement donations by promoting voluntary donations, raising awareness about the importance of blood donation, and encouraging participation from government officials and students.
Dr. Affan emphasized that during emergencies, blood availability is critical. He stressed the need for regularly organizing such camps to meet the increasing demand for blood.
