China has expressed its willingness to collaborate with the United States to foster stable, healthy, and sustainable economic and trade relations, adhering to principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation, the Ministry of Commerce stated on Thursday.
Ministry spokesperson He Yadong emphasized that tariff measures are detrimental not only to China and the United States but also to the broader global economy. His comments were made in response to a question regarding the potential 10 percent tariff increase on Chinese imports, set to be implemented by the Trump administration starting February 1.
Regarding TikTok, He reiterated China’s commitment to respecting and safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of enterprises while opposing actions that violate market economy principles and harm businesses’ lawful interests.
He called on the United States to pay more attention to the voices of enterprises and the public, urging the creation of a fair and just business environment for companies from all nations, including Chinese firms.
He concluded by expressing hope that the United States would take actions that enhance bilateral economic and trade cooperation, benefiting the people of both countries.
