The Chinese Navy hospital ship “Peace Ark” returned to a port in Zhoushan, Zhejiang Province, on Thursday morning after completing its “Mission Harmony-2024” humanitarian medical deployment to 13 countries in Asia and Africa.
Since setting sail on June 16, 2024, the ship covered over 30,000 nautical miles in 215 days, marking the longest duration and most extensive undertaking in the mission’s history.
The ship’s journey included visits to nations such as the Seychelles, Tanzania, Madagascar, Mozambique, South Africa, Djibouti, and Sri Lanka.
During the deployment, the medical team onboard treated 82,980 cases of common illnesses and conducted 1,392 surgeries. The crew also engaged in professional seminars and participated in cultural and sports exchanges with host nations.
The “Peace Ark,” China’s first independently designed and built ocean-going maritime hospital, has been conducting “Mission Harmony” operations since August 2010. It has visited 49 countries and regions, delivering medical services to over 370,000 people.
