Xi’s special envoy attends inauguration of Venezuela’s president as he conveyed President Xi’s best wishes.
Chinese President Xi Jinping’s special envoy, Wang Dongming, attended the inauguration ceremony of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Friday at the invitation of the Venezuelan government.
Following the inauguration, Maduro met with Wang, who is also the vice chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, at the presidential palace.
During the meeting, Wang conveyed President Xi’s cordial greetings and best wishes to Maduro, congratulating him on his re-election as Venezuela’s president.
Wang highlighted the elevation of China-Venezuela relations to an all-weather strategic partnership, which was jointly announced by Xi and Maduro in September 2023, marking the beginning of a new chapter in bilateral relations.
Reflecting on the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties celebrated last year, Wang noted that the bond between the two nations has grown stronger, deeply resonating with their peoples.
Wang expressed China’s willingness to continue implementing the key agreements made by the two leaders, strengthening the traditional friendship, and advancing bilateral relations to benefit both countries.
Maduro, in turn, asked Wang to convey his highest respect and heartfelt greetings to Xi Jinping and expressed his gratitude for sending a special envoy to attend the inauguration of his new term.
Maduro emphasized Venezuela’s commitment to the China-Venezuela all-weather strategic partnership, reaffirming its support for China’s core interests. He expressed readiness to collaborate with China in advancing practical cooperation across various fields, sharing governance experiences, and elevating their bilateral ties to greater heights.
