Students and faculty from the University of the Punjab visited the Karot Hydropower Project located on the Jhelum River.
The visit aimed to provide students with practical exposure to renewable energy technologies, hydropower generation, and sustainable development practices.
During their time at the site, students explored the operations of the hydropower plant, learning about turbine systems and the role of advanced engineering in achieving clean energy objectives.
The Karot Hydropower Project, a 720 MW facility under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), plays a vital role in Pakistan’s energy sector by delivering sustainable and eco-friendly electricity.
Similar visits to hydropower sites have been organized throughout the year. Chinese companies involved in industrial and power projects in Pakistan have partnered with local universities to offer learning and growth opportunities for students.
These collaborations include initiatives such as internships, research and training programs, scholarships to study at Chinese universities, and educational visits to Chinese project sites to observe real-time operations and implementations.
