China-Pakistan marine research collaboration deepens as the 6th China-Pakistan Marine Information Workshop recently concluded at Harbin Engineering University (HEU) in China.
Chinese Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (CSNAME) organized the four-day event brought together Chinese and Pakistani experts to share research findings and explore emerging trends and challenges in marine information across interdisciplinary fields.
Song Yingdong, President of Harbin Engineering University, highlighted the growing collaboration between China and Pakistan in marine information research and talent development, facilitated by the China-Pakistan Marine Information Joint Research Laboratory. He emphasized that HEU aims to deepen cooperation with Pakistan in scientific innovation, talent training, and the application of research outcomes, leveraging its expertise in the ocean sector to advance the global marine industry.
Ahmed Saeed, President of Pakistan’s National Institute of Maritime Affairs (NIMA), praised China’s advancements in marine information and new energy technologies. He also acknowledged HEU’s pioneering achievements in underwater acoustic engineering and shipbuilding as valuable learning opportunities for Pakistan. Saeed encouraged students from both nations to actively contribute to the development of marine science and technology through bilateral cooperation.
The workshop also witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between HEU and the Pakistani delegation. Moreover, the agreement focuses on enhancing overseas student education, organizing high-level international academic conferences, and fostering high-quality collaboration in marine-related fields.
