China, Iran boost comprehensive strategic partnership and vow to enhance cooperation efforts.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian met with Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Guoqing in a bid to strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries. The two leaders pledged to enhance efforts to further this cooperation.
During the meeting, Zhang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, conveyed the warm greetings and best wishes of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Pezeshkian.
Zhang emphasized Iran’s key role in regional and international affairs, highlighting its importance as a comprehensive strategic partner for China. He also referenced the fruitful discussions between the two presidents at the BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia, in October, which set a clear direction for boosting China-Iran relations.
Zhang reiterated China’s unwavering support for Iran in preserving its sovereignty, security, territorial integrity, and legitimate rights. He expressed China’s commitment to carrying out the agreements made by the two leaders and to ensuring the long-term stability of their bilateral relations.
Pezeshkian, in response, asked Zhang to extend his sincere regards to President Xi Jinping. He emphasized Iran’s dedication to further strengthening ties with China, underlining the strategic significance of their relationship. He also expressed Iran’s willingness to continue supporting China and to deepen practical cooperation for advancing their partnership.
In addition to his meeting with Pezeshkian, Zhang also engaged in in-depth talks with Iran’s First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref. The two officials discussed plans to implement the comprehensive China-Iran cooperation agreement.
