China sets up 9,100+ cultural heritage workshops for rural growth as revealed in a recent meeting held by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in Longyan, Fujian Province.
China has established over 9,100 intangible cultural heritage workshops across the country, covering more than 1,721 county-level regions, according to a recent meeting held by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in Longyan, Fujian Province, from Sunday to Tuesday.
These workshops have provided direct employment to more than 270,000 individuals, helping lift them out of poverty under the national poverty alleviation initiative, offering a per capita annual income exceeding 36,000 yuan (around 5,006 U.S. dollars).
Authorities have assisted local areas in utilizing intangible cultural heritage to drive rural revitalization, preserve traditional culture, enhance employment and income, and improve rural living conditions, according to the meeting.
The meeting emphasized the need to enhance the intangible cultural heritage protection system in rural areas and improve both the quality and efficiency of these workshops.
Intangible cultural heritage workshops are business entities or production sites that use traditional craftsmanship and cultural heritage to preserve these practices while providing employment opportunities for local communities.
