China-Italy Innovation Week focuses on global challenges where diverse range of topics will be discussed.
The 13th China-Italy Science, Technology, and Innovation Week began on Tuesday in Naples, with both nations committing to enhancing technological innovation cooperation to address global challenges and promote shared progress.
The event, themed “The Value of Science and Technology in Addressing the Great Challenges of Our Time,” will span three days and include ministerial meetings, cooperation agreement signings, parallel forums, and one-on-one matchmaking sessions.
Around 500 participants from China and Italy will discuss diverse topics, including art and cultural heritage, food production and processing systems, climate change, and biodiversity.
Furthermore, speaking at the opening ceremony, Chinese Minister of Science and Technology Yin Hejun stressed the significance of innovation cooperation as a cornerstone of the China-Italy comprehensive strategic partnership. He underscored the importance of leveraging complementary strengths, fostering mutual benefits, and advancing economic and social development, human well-being, and global cooperation.
Additionally, Italian Minister of Universities and Research Anna Maria Bernini welcomed the Chinese delegation and highlighted the pivotal role of innovation cooperation in strengthening bilateral ties. She called for increased dialogue and collaboration to address pressing global challenges.
On Monday, the two ministers held bilateral discussions in Naples and signed a joint statement.
Since its launch in 2010, the innovation week has been hosted 12 times across cities in both countries, facilitating over 6,200 technological partnerships and fostering collaboration among governments, enterprises, and research institutions.
