China-Fiji Trade Expo boosts collaboration as it offered wide range of products and services.
The 2024 Trade Exhibition of the People’s Republic of China in Fiji took place in Suva from Thursday to Sunday, serving as a platform for fostering cooperation and interaction between Chinese and Fijian businesses.
Held at the Vodafone Arena in Suva, the exhibition spanned an area of about 1,600 square meters, offering ample space to showcase a wide range of products and services.
More than 30 Chinese companies participated, displaying their latest innovations in sectors such as infrastructure, automotive, renewable energy, machinery, electronic communications, electrical equipment, and aquaculture.
The mushroom cultivation booth from the China-Fiji Juncao Technology Demonstration Center became a highlight, drawing significant interest from local visitors.
One notable participant, 75-year-old Fijian villager Alusio Tawakevoudua, volunteered as a guide to promote Chinese mushroom cultivation technology. He shared that six years ago, Chinese experts introduced mushroom farming to his village, revolutionizing their livelihoods.
The exhibition also attracted businesses from Fiji and neighboring nations. Wasim Ahmed, CEO of Fiji AI Networks, praised the quality of Chinese products and signed a deal to purchase radio communication equipment.
A photovoltaic company from Shanghai drew large crowds with its solar products, many of which sold out. Representative Shen Chongliang shared that they received strong interest from individuals and businesses, including an order from an Australian hotel.
Chinese Ambassador to Fiji Zhou Jian, in his opening remarks, described the event as the largest and most comprehensive trade exhibition China has hosted in Fiji, offering Fijian enterprises a closer view of China’s technological advancements.
The exhibition was a collaborative effort by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and Fiji’s Ministry of Trade, Co-operatives, Micro Small and Medium Enterprises, and Communications.
