Xi reaffirms strengthened China-Morocco partnership during a meeting with Moroccan Crown Prince Moulay Hassan in Casablanca.
Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed China’s readiness to continue collaborating with Morocco to support each other’s core interests and advance the China-Morocco strategic partnership. He made these remarks during a meeting with Moroccan Crown Prince Moulay Hassan in Casablanca, following his state visit to Brazil.
On behalf of King Mohammed VI, Crown Prince Moulay Hassan and Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch welcomed President Xi at the Casablanca airport, where a formal ceremony was held. President Xi conveyed his cordial greetings and best wishes to King Mohammed VI through the Crown Prince.
President Xi highlighted the robust development of China-Morocco relations, marked by fruitful cooperation and dynamic exchanges in various fields. He recalled King Mohammed VI’s 2016 state visit to China, which fostered productive discussions and elevated bilateral relations to new heights.
Xi reaffirmed China’s commitment to working with Morocco to implement the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and the 10th ministerial conference of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum. He emphasized advancing practical cooperation in multiple sectors under the Belt and Road Initiative framework.
President Xi pledged support for Morocco’s efforts to safeguard its national security and stability. He also advocated for expanding cultural and people-to-people exchanges to deepen mutual understanding and strengthen public support for the friendship between the two nations.
Crown Prince Moulay Hassan, representing King Mohammed VI, extended the monarch’s warm greetings and a sincere welcome to President Xi. He acknowledged the positive momentum in bilateral ties and expressed gratitude for China’s invaluable support during the COVID-19 pandemic, which remains deeply appreciated by the Moroccan people.
Furthermore, Hassan reiterated the Moroccan royal family and government’s commitment to enhancing relations with China. He stressed the importance of maintaining high-level exchanges and fostering cooperation across various fields. Moreover, highlighting the popularity of Chinese language and culture in Morocco, he expressed a desire to boost people-to-people interactions.
The Crown Prince noted the shared positions of China and Morocco on numerous issues. He affirmed Morocco’s readiness to collaborate with China in firmly supporting each other’s efforts to uphold national sovereignty, security, and stability.
