A new air route linking Beijing Daxing International Airport with Singapore was launched on Monday, signifying the expansion of Singapore Airlines‘ operations to both of Beijing’s major airports.
The passenger service, which utilizes Boeing 787-10 aircraft, offers one daily round-trip flight. This addition brings Singapore Airlines’ total weekly passenger flights on the Beijing-Singapore route to 28.
Dai Haoyu, the acting senior vice president of marketing planning at Singapore Airlines, highlighted that the Chinese market is expected to be a significant growth driver for global aviation passenger volume over the next 10 to 20 years. “China is a crucial and strategic market for us,” he emphasized.
According to the Civil Aviation Administration of China, the country is projected to reach a record-high number of air passenger trips in 2024, totaling 700 million this year. China’s civil aviation sector has been ranked second globally for 19 consecutive years, contributing over 20 percent to global aviation growth.
