President Xi urges building strong, modernized PLA airborne force emphasizing the importance of education for military personnel to carry forward the legacy.
Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for a comprehensive increase in troop training, improved combat readiness, and enhanced airborne operation capabilities to build a powerful and modernized airborne force.
During an inspection of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) airborne corps in Xiaogan, Hubei Province, Xi, who also serves as general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, emphasized these priorities on Monday.
Xi examined airborne equipment and reviewed the tactical effectiveness of key weapons and gear. He acknowledged the positive progress made in recent years but stressed the need to advance efforts to create a new system for airborne equipment.
While visiting a museum dedicated to the airborne corps’ history, Xi highlighted the importance of education and guidance for military personnel to carry forward the unit’s honorable legacy in the new era.
Xi underscored the need to heighten awareness of combat readiness and military preparedness, increase joint training with other military branches, and bolster capabilities for joint command, operations, and support.
He also stressed the importance of developing advanced combat capabilities through technological innovation to further strengthen the airborne corps.
Additionally, Xi urged that Party organizations within the military be fortified with strong political resolve and efficiency and called for addressing corruption and misconduct among military personnel.
