Pakistan seeks to learn from China’s expertise in coal and petrochemicals highlighting strengthened collaboration between China and Pakistan.
Minister of Petroleum Dr. Musadik Malik visited Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Industry Group Co., Ltd. in Shaanxi province, China, highlighting the expanding collaboration between Pakistan and China in energy, petrochemicals, and sustainable industrial development.
Mr. Zhao Futang, General Manager of Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Group, along with other senior executives, warmly welcomed the Minister. During the visit, the Minister received a comprehensive overview of the company’s operations, which include coal mining projects, petrochemical processing plants, and advancements in clean energy technology. Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Industry Group stands as one of China’s largest state-owned enterprises, with significant investments in coal, chemicals, and renewable energy.
The visit aimed to identify ways to enhance bilateral cooperation, particularly in the coal sector. Both sides engaged in fruitful discussions regarding potential partnerships in coal-to-chemicals technology and opportunities for joint venture investments. Representatives from the Thar Coal Board, Sindh Engro Coal Mining Company, and the Energy Department of Sindh were also present at the meeting.
