The Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee met on Friday to assess strategies for enhancing the development of China’s western region. Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, led the meeting.
The session emphasized the need for coordinated efforts in environmental conservation, opening up the region, and fostering high-quality development. The goal is to establish a new developmental pattern that enhances regional strength and sustainability.
The meeting called for a comprehensive approach to reform, the unlocking and development of productive forces, and the pursuit of Chinese modernization tailored to the region’s specifics.
It also highlighted the importance of cultivating specialty industries, boosting technological innovation, and upgrading traditional industries.
High-level environmental conservation was stressed, with a focus on pollution prevention, green development, and creating a beautiful western region.
The meeting also encouraged increased economic openness, improved energy and resource security, and the development of clean energy bases.
Advancing new urbanization, consolidating poverty alleviation achievements, and preventing widespread rural poverty were also discussed.
Additionally, the meeting underscored the need to strengthen national unity and stability in border areas.
