6 August – Chinese delegation visits Gwadar on Tuesday to explore various avenues for China Pakistan strategic partnership and economic revolution for the region.
A high-level Chinese delegation, led by Mr. Wang Fuqiang, Representative of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, visited Gwadar, Pakistan, to discuss future investment opportunities, development programs, and ongoing projects like the New Gwadar International Airport and the Pak-China Friendship Hospital.
The delegation also toured the South Free Zone and Gwadar Port, emphasizing their importance for future trade and economic activities. In a meeting with Gwadar Port Authority officials, the delegation reviewed the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Phase 2 projects.
Balochistan’s Finance Minister, Zahoor Buledi, welcomed the delegation. Gwadar Port Authority Chairman, Naseer Khan Kashani, stressed the crucial role of CPEC in the success of Gwadar Port. Additionally, the Chairman of China Overseas Port Holding Company (COPHC), Mr. Yu Bo, presented proposals to enhance trade.
Mr. Yu Bo remarked, “China and Pakistan are eternal friends, with an ironclad history of friendship. Industrial cooperation is essential now. China’s collaboration on large projects will bring an economic revolution to the region, offering employment and business opportunities for the people of Balochistan.”
Furthermore, the delegation praised the security measures in place for Chinese employees working on various projects and expressed their satisfaction. The visit is expected to significantly boost Pakistan’s capacity to tackle future challenges.
Despite attempts to disrupt high-level visits, the steadfast resolve of Pakistan and China has thwarted opposing agendas.
The 26-member delegation included representatives from the Chinese Embassy, Yang Guangyuan and Chen Jinqi, as well as Pakistani officials Avis Manzoor Sumer from the Ministry of Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, Zulfiqar Ali Shalwani, and Syed Zafar Ali Shah from the Ministry of Maritime Affairs.
