The Silk Road Culture Centre (SRCC) inaugurates in Islamabad marking a significant milestone in cultural cooperation.

The Silk Road Culture Centre (SRCC) was inaugurated on Tuesday, attracting ambassadors, diplomats, and cultural enthusiasts from Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

Organizers described the event as a milestone in advancing global cultural understanding and collaboration.

Jamal Shah, SRCC Chairman, expressed gratitude to participating nations for their contributions of artworks and cultural artifacts that showcased the diverse heritage of Silk Road nations. He commended the collective efforts in bringing the Silk Road’s spirit to life, emphasizing the centre’s role as a hub for cultural exchange, learning, and reflection. He highlighted SRCC’s mission to promote unity, diversity, and mutual respect through exhibitions, workshops, performances, and educational programs that celebrate the Silk Road’s legacy.

Acknowledgment was given to key sponsors and partners, including Zong Pakistan, Serena Hotel Islamabad, the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA), Hunerkada Islamabad, and the Sir Syed Memorial Society (SSMS), for their pivotal support in realizing the SRCC’s vision.

A notable announcement during the event was the integration of SRCC under the SSMS governing body, ensuring a solid foundation for its future initiatives. The centre will also feature a Sir Syed Research Centre, focusing on cultural studies, academic innovation, and the legacy of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan.

Mr. Shah described SRCC as more than just a venue, but a convergence point for art, history, and tradition that fosters meaningful connections. He emphasized that the iconic building stands as a symbol of cultural collaboration and unity.

The inauguration highlighted the transformative power of cultural exchange in fostering global harmony. Organizers envisioned SRCC as a cornerstone of cultural and academic excellence, uniting people and nations under shared values of understanding and respect.

Furthermore, Russian Ambassador to Pakistan Albert P. Khorev remarked that the SRCC adds a vibrant dimension to Islamabad’s cultural scene. He also praised its role in raising awareness of cultures along the Silk Road, noting the richness of Russian culture and its contributions to architecture, music, theatre, and art. Khorev expressed confidence in the centre’s commitment to joint projects and intellectual exchanges.

Moreover, Kazakhstan’s Ambassador Yerzhan Kistafin congratulated Jamal Shah and underscored the Silk Road’s historical significance in connecting nations through trade, culture, and shared traditions. He emphasized Kazakhstan’s long-standing role as a bridge between East and West and reaffirmed his embassy’s support for the SRCC’s initiatives.
