Ensuring security of Chinese nationals govt’s top priority: Mohsin Naqvi said in a meeting with Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has vowed to strengthen security measures for Chinese nationals and projects in Pakistan, especially after a recent Karachi attack that injured two Chinese citizens.

Naqvi highlighted that ensuring the safety of Chinese citizens is a top priority, particularly because of the importance of CPEC projects in strengthening the partnership between the two countries.

In a meeting with Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong in Islamabad, Naqvi conveyed his condolences and regret regarding the Karachi attack.

Naqvi assured that steps are being taken to create a secure environment for Chinese nationals in Pakistan and promised that the perpetrators of the Karachi attack would be held accountable.

Both parties discussed preventive measures for future incidents and agreed on enhancing security cooperation to ensure the safety of Chinese workers in Pakistan.

The Chinese ambassador thanked Naqvi for the security measures implemented during the Chinese premier’s visit and conveyed President Xi Jinping’s message to President Asif Ali Zardari, wishing him a swift recovery.

Senior officials from Pakistan’s interior ministry and the Chinese embassy attended the meeting, which focused on the growing Pakistan-China cooperation and the necessity of a stable environment to support the partnership.

PM Shehbaz Sharif visit to Chinese Embassy

Additionally, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad to condemn the attack in Karachi and check on the condition of the injured Chinese nationals.

The shooting in Karachi’s SITE Industrial Area led Beijing to demand enhanced security measures for its nationals in Pakistan.

Prime Minister Sharif reiterated that protecting Chinese nationals is a key priority and assured he was personally overseeing the investigation to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.

Prime Minister Sharif also expressed relief over the injured individuals’ improving health and condemned the attack as an attempt to damage the strong bond between Pakistan and China.

The Chinese ambassador thanked the Prime Minister for his visit and expressed hope that those responsible for the attack would be quickly apprehended.

Moreover, the foreign ministry condemned the attack as well, reiterating its commitment to a thorough investigation in collaboration with the interior ministry and the Chinese embassy.
