Chinese State Councilor Shen Yiqin and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova led the 25th meeting of the China-Russia Committee on Humanities Cooperation in Moscow on Monday, affirming their commitment to strengthening people-to-people exchanges and cultural collaboration.
Shen, who chairs the China-Russia Committee on Humanities Cooperation, emphasized the significance of people-to-people exchanges as a crucial aspect of the bilateral relationship. She highlighted the participation of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin in the China-Russia Years of Culture opening ceremony and a special concert celebrating 75 years of diplomatic relations earlier this year, which demonstrated their strong support for these exchanges.
Humanitarian Cooperation and Communication Mechanisms
Guided by the strategic vision of both leaders, China and Russia have enriched their humanitarian cooperation with more detailed plans, enhanced communication mechanisms, prominent branding, and deeper exchanges, she said. These efforts have led to numerous achievements and positively reinforced the longstanding friendship between the two nations.
Shen also referenced the emphasis placed by the third plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on expanding international people-to-people exchanges, which will invigorate China-Russia humanitarian collaboration.
She proposed using the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations as a new milestone, urging both sides to implement key agreements made by their leaders, advance humanitarian cooperation plans, and jointly develop high-quality initiatives such as the China-Russia Years of Culture.
Golikova, the Russian co-chair, commended the successful outcomes of the humanitarian cooperation between Russia and China and expressed her commitment to further deepening and broadening practical cooperation in this field to advance bilateral relations.
As China, Russia to promote high-quality development in humanities cooperation, several documents were signed, and both leaders addressed the press.
