 China-Pakistan Friendship scholarship improving gender balance in GB

The China Study Centre (CSC) at Karakoram International University (KIU) has announced “China-Pakistan Friendship–Ambassadorial Merit-cum-Need Scholarship”, which is funded by the Embassy of China in Pakistan.

The scholarship is intended to encourage gender balance, and to that end, 50% of the scholarships will be awarded to female students on KIU’s main and sub-campuses.

All under-graduate and graduate programs students in all disciplines of KIU Main and Sub-Campuses, who have completed at least one semester of studies can avail the scholarship. The students must have obtained at least 3.0 or above GPA/CGPA to apply for the China-Pakistan Friendship Scholarship.

According to an official statement, fifty percent of the scholarship grants would be awarded purely on merit bases among meritorious students while the remaining 50% grants shall be appropriated on need-based process. For need-based assessment, maximum net earnings of Rs. 75,000 per month will be given consideration. The closing date of the application is February 2022.

CSC at KIU has been an establishment to provide a base to learn not only Chinese society but also a window of opportunity to take advantage of this platform via developing research collaborations in Xinjiang and mainland China.

The center provides opportunity to its students to study the Geo-strategic and Geo-economic dimensions of the Chinese Belt and Road initiative(BRI) and CPEC to understand their long-term impact on Pakistan. The institution also aims to develop human resources for the implementation of CPEC Long Term Plan and the development of the capacity of Pakistani universities for providing policy inputs to the Government on the challenges emerging in the wake of implementation of CPEC Long Term Plan.
