In a world grappling with chaos, conflicts, and unrest, the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) emerges as a beacon of hope and unity, fostering positive change and shared prosperity. The recent Webinar on the Third Belt and Road Forum, themed “Together for Common Development and Shared Prosperity,” united influential speakers from various regions to passionately highlight the transformative potential of the BRI.

Hosted by the Friends of BRI Forum and the Centre for BRI and China Studies at the Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies (IPDS), the event drew attention to the global impact of the BRI, particularly its role in promoting peace and stability. Dr. Farhat Asif, President of IPDS, underscored the significance of the BRI on a global scale, with a specific emphasis on Pakistan benefiting through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Speakers such as Ulf Sandmark, Chairman of BRI Sweden, and Ambassador Igor V. Khalevinskiy, Chairman of the Association of Russian Diplomats, Russia, praised the BRI for fostering development and prosperity on a global scale. Prof. Zhou Rong from Renmin University, China, emphasized the importance of collaborative projects like the BRI in a world marked by conflicts, acknowledging China’s significant progress and positive impact.

Dr. Kurt Grötsch, Founding President of Catedra China and Ambassador of Minzu University, Spain, stressed the environmental aspects of the BRI’s progress. Dr. Katarina Zakic, Head of the Regional Center for Belt and Road Studies, IIPE, Serbia, discussed the positive effects of the BRI on Serbia-China political relations, trade, and Chinese investments.

Carlos Martinez, Co-Editor of the Friends of Socialist China Platform, UK, highlighted the unique and impactful nature of the BRI in achieving sustainable development. The webinar also featured insights from thought leaders like Dr. Hasan Abdullah Al-Dajah from Al-Hussein Bin Talal University, Jordan, and Martín Rafael López from the National University of La Plata, Argentina, illustrating the strong ties between nations and the positive influence of BRI on global development.

Terry M. Kiragu, Co-Founder of the Women, Youth & Children Development Organization, Kenya, emphasized the significant role of the NGO sector in driving transformational impacts. The webinar served as a platform for thought leaders to explore the potential of the BRI in shaping a more peaceful and prosperous future for all.
