Tribal leader, son dead during blast in Kech, Balochistan as an IED was remotely detonated in his vehicle.
At least 21 people, including a prominent tribal elder and his son, died in various incidents such as shootings, explosions, drownings, and road accidents across Balochistan during the Eid holidays, according to officials on Monday.
These incidents also left a minimum of 13 individuals injured.
Tribal elder Muhammad Amin, a relative of senior minister Mir Zahoor Ahmed Buledi, was targeted in a roadside IED attack in the Zamran area of Kech district while heading to Eid prayers with his family.
A Levies official reported that the explosive device was remotely detonated as Amin’s vehicle neared the location, killing him and his son, Naveed Amin, on the spot. His younger son, Hafiz Irshad, and another person were also injured in the blast.
No organization has so far claimed responsibility for the bombing.
Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari later extended his condolences to the bereaved family. He expressed solidarity with Zahoor Buledi and prayed for the swift recovery of the injured.
In another incident, former excise and taxation officer Hafiz Elahi Bakhsh was shot dead while on his way to Eid prayers.
In Nasirabad, Ziaur Rehman Hashmi, the brother of a senior government official, was also killed in an armed attack. Meanwhile, a seminary student named Riaz Ahmed was gunned down in Noshki, and a man identified as Abdullah was found dead in Buleda after being abducted. In Dera Bugti, an unidentified man was injured in a separate shooting, officials confirmed.
