SCO film festival to kick off in Chongqing, China which will feature the latest developments in film technology.
The 2025 Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Film Festival is scheduled to be held from July 3 to 7 in Yongchuan District of southwest China’s Chongqing Municipality. The event will showcase recent developments in film technology and production among SCO member countries, according to local officials.
The festival is designed to enhance cultural ties and foster collaboration among SCO nations, as announced by the municipal government during a press briefing.
A total of 11 key activities are planned, such as film screenings, forums on cooperation, an exhibition on film technology, and a gala concert. Ten awards, including those for best film and best director, will be presented, according to Qin Zhengui, deputy director of the China Film Administration.
So far, 27 films from SCO member countries have been submitted to the organizing committee. A curated selection of these films will be screened during the festival.
Yongchuan, situated in western Chongqing, has grown into a dynamic center for innovation in film technology. The district now hosts over 100 film and television companies and features advanced facilities, including a 3,000-square-meter virtual production stage and a 5,000-square-meter professional soundstage.
